Building Career in Socio-Politics

The shift in mindset of the new generation to take risks and pursue one’s own area of interest.
There was a time once when young men and women were only driven by the lust of settling down. Their ambitions weighed only till they found their first profession, as a result of which, even today, we see the preceding generations retiring after working double digit number of years at their last firm. However, things have changed drastically for the current generation, and things have changed for good. With technological advancement and influx of knowledge portals, young professionals today are not afraid to try their hands on their areas of interest. As a result of this, they seek to only settle down on a profession till they find their calling.
One such ambitious individual is Ms. Kaksha Patel. Patel is currently the Vice President of the Union of Maharaja Sayajirao University. She did her graduation from the Faculty of Science, followed by her Master’s in Political Science, both from at Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU). Later in 2018, she also finished her Post Graduation in Political Science from the same university.
An aspiring leader of the world and a disciple of former Prime Minister of India Mr. Atal B. Vajpayee, Kaksha was not always aspiring to be a political figure. In-fact, she started her high school and graduated as a science student. It was later that she realised she was inclined towards leadership. Right from school till her college, she took up multiple leadership roles such as Head Girl, contesting elections and initiating career counselling services for students. Hence, she shifted towards political science as her area of study for her two later degrees.
Changing streams to follow her own passion.
But it was not a cake walk for her when she chose to change her stream of study. Kaksha told us how the area of political science was new to her. To compensate for this, she got enrolled in multiple social activities while in college. She was also associated with Chatra Sansad, Vadodara, a socio-political NGO and invested much of her time understanding the nuances of the on-field functions of Indian politics. She engaged herself actively in relevant activities and hence got an opportunity to present two papers at the BRICS summit held in Russia last year, becoming one of the only 30 students who were offered to attend the prestigious summit from India that year.
When asked about if she regrets her choice of stream change, she pledges she will never look back. Kaksha’s story is a true testimony of how doing what you are passionate about paves way for a successful career. Career change or stream changes, all can be compensated for if one is driven to follow their passion and work for it. CareerNaksha wishes Ms. Kaksha Patel success for her journey of making India a world leader.
