Law has been a diverse and noble profession. From helping the clients in getting justice to helping the society in the regulation of the legal machinery, the law covers every aspect of our daily life. It is diverse because of the various career opportunities that are available to a student of law. A student can decide to go for Judiciary or probably civil services after finishing the studies. One can choose to be a practising lawyer or an arbitrator, may join a law firm or become an In-house counsel for leading companies.
Another bright option is teaching the students of law which is in vogue nowadays. One can also choose to contribute to society by working for an NGO. Then there are paralegals, law clerks, legal researchers etc. The career opportunities are diverse and at every stage, you are helping in the creation of the change that you wish to see in the world.
Lawyers are looked up to everywhere which makes this profession one of the highly esteemed professions in the world. But, it is at the same time very challenging as well. A lawyer has the burden of bringing justice to a person, but nobody sees the challenges behind the arguments that a lawyer makes in the court. Rigorous research, analysis of the facts and an in-depth understanding of the case is required before actually stepping inside the court. This profession is challenging as one needs to be prepared for any type of problem and to be up to date with the things that are happening around him.

As a lawyer, you are helping in changing the world, to curb society’s deep-rooted problems like racism, domestic violence, sexual offences, and other crimes. There is diversity as you can choose your field of law, whether you wish to go for corporate law, international law or criminal law. You get to represent some high profile cases as well; you get to network with people from different fields. The respect and esteem attached to this field know no bounds.
Remuneration aspect gets better by each passing day you spend in the field; e.g. a fresher as a civil lawyer might start with Rs 15000-25000 per month, but once he gets established there are no upper limits to the remuneration part as it gets better if you are great at your job. Your earning potential will highly depend on your field, your place of practice, number of clients you have etc.
